Priv.-Doz. DDr. Sabrina Leal Garcia, formerly Mörkl, is a specialist in psychiatry and psychotherapeutic medicine as well as nutritional medicine. She heads the Special Outpatient Clinic for Nutritional Psychosomatics at the Medical University of Graz and is an expert in the field of Nutritional Psychiatry, which explores the role of nutrition in the prevention and treatment of mental illnesses.
After completing her medical degree with distinction in 2012, she underwent specialist training in psychiatry and psychotherapeutic medicine. Her research focuses on the gut-brain axis, which she further explored in 2019 as a visiting scientist at the APC Microbiome Institute in Ireland.
In addition to her clinical practice, Dr. Leal Garcia teaches at the Medical University of Graz and co-authored the book “Nutrition for the Psyche: The Cookbook” with Attila Várnagy. As a member of the International Society of Nutritional Psychiatry Research (ISNPR), she regularly delivers lectures and webinars, for example, on nutrition and anxiety disorders.
