22nd International TAO Congress

25. - 27. September 2025 | Graz

Lisa LEE, PhD, Lic. Ac., MBAcC

Lisa Lee is an acupuncturist based in Edinburgh Scotland, and author of The Microbiome, Gut Health and Oriental Medicine, published in 2022 by Singing Dragon. Lisa works with patients affected by a wide range of physical and mental health conditions, and has a special interest in anxiety, including its link to digestive disorders. It is through this work that Lisa first recognised the synergy between acupuncture and the growing understanding of the role of human microbiomes in the prevention of disease and maintenance of good health. This has led her to place a strong emphasis on gut health in her approach to diagnosis and treatment, both through the acupuncture treatments themselves, and by educating patients on nutrition and yangsheng principles. After completing a doctorate at Sussex University, UK, and working for many years as a university researcher in the field of sociological studies of science, technology and medicine, Lisa decided to embark on a career in acupuncture, and retrained in classical Five-Element acupuncture at The Acupuncture Academy (TAA) in Leamington Spa, UK, where she was awarded a Licentiate in Acupuncture. She later took on a role there as a clinical supervisor and has also been a guest lecturer in nutrition for TAA’s graduate CPD programme.
